Tees Valley Net Zero Grants
Supporting businesses to reduce their carbon emissions
We're supporting hundreds of businesses across Tees Valley to cut their carbon emissions and become more sustainable. If you've worked with our team and we've identified ways to reduce your emissions, you could qualify for a grant to help make it happen.
How to Apply
You need to have received support from the Tees Valley Net Zero team at Decerna, and we must have identified specific measures that will cut your carbon emissions.
Tell us you want to implement the measures and apply for a grant. We'll send you an application form that's mostly filled in already.
You'll need to add:
- Which specific measures you want to use the grant for
- Quotes for supply and/or installation costs
- Supporting documents (quotations, equipment specs, performance estimates)
- How long it will take to complete the work
The Review Process
Every three months, our Grant Review Panel assesses all applications received since the last panel. We check that all required information has been submitted and that applications are eligible in principle.
What happens after the panel decision:
If successful: You'll get an email notification and need to complete a final eligibility check before receiving your formal Grant Offer.
Time limit: You have one month from the grant offer to complete all work and provide evidence.
Payment: The grant is paid after you've completed the work, paid all invoices, and provided evidence (photos, receipts, bank statements).
How We Choose Grant Winners
Carbon Savings Priority
Applications ranked by highest estimated annual carbon savings (measured in tonnes of CO₂ equivalent).
One of our consultants calculates the potential carbon savings for each application.
Net Zero Ambition
Reserved for businesses showing the greatest Net Zero ambition and engagement with our programme.
This ensures smaller businesses aren't disadvantaged by larger-scale projects.
*Expected number awarded at each Grant Review Panel.
Important: You must complete the work before receiving payment
To ensure grants are used properly, all supply and installation work must be finished and paid for in full before we release the grant money. You'll need to provide evidence that the work is complete.

If your business is based in Tees Valley (Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-On-Tees), support is fully funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Tees Valley Net Zero is delivered by Decerna on behalf of the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority, and the Tees Valley Business Board.
